    Matching pair of late 18th Century Desnoyer French color engravings framed in lovely period gold leaf wood and gesso frames with period-correct color stipple engravings or aquatints from around 1799. These intricate narrative prints are titled La Mère Trompée (The Deceived Mother) and La Fille Surprise (The Surprised Daughter). Originally published in 1799, they were engraved by the prominent French printmaker Auguste Gaspard Louis Boucher Desnoyers. These prints are characteristic of the late Louis XVI and Directoire periods, capturing dramatic domestic or romantic moral tales common in French society artwork of that era.
