Atmospheric French oil impressionist antique painting dated October 15, 1902, depicting a vineyard worker with a traditional hotte à vendange, a harvesting container used to collect and transport grapes during the vendange. The figure bends over the wooden hotte in a quiet rural landscape, rendered with loose, expressive brushwork and a softly muted palette. A wonderful glimpse of traditional French viticultural life at the turn of the 20th century, presented in a simple wood frame. There is a tag on the back from a prior owner stating its provenance and that he bought it in 1990. From Provence, France!
