English ceramic bowl by Adams, decorated in the Old English Sport pattern with two game birds titled “Set To.” The central scene depicts two gamecocks before a traditional fighting pit with “Match” and “Rules & Regulations” notices in the background, framed by a floral border and finished with fine rust-red banding. The printed maker’s mark to the underside identifies the English manufacturer. This is a particularly interesting example of English sporting ware and the pattern is documented as Old English Sport.
