Pair of Early 19th Century French Directoire Period Painted Side Chairs with New Upholstery
Product Barcode Id: 76948953Elegant pair of late 19th century French Directoire period painted side chairs with their original patina. Lovely curved seat backs are detailed with a hand carved urn at each back top and a stunning woven pattern in the center with gold medallions. The front legs are detailed with a striated pattern around the top and the rear legs curve gently outward "en sabres", which in English translates to "like sabers." One chair 5/8" taller than the other; perhaps as a custom "his and hers" pair. The seats are newly upholstered in a neutral high quality fabric that complements the vestiges of varied shades of paint. From Paris, France!
