Early 19th Century French Empire Daybed or Lit de Repos
Product Barcode Id: 76102361
$2,850.00
Elegant early 19th century French lit de repos with a richly figured wood frame and distinctive outscrolled ends. The long paneled front rail is detailed with carved borders and a central circular medallion, raised on boldly scrolled feet. Its symmetrical, architectural form reflects the French Empire taste for classical ornamentation, while the upholstered mattress and bolster cushions soften the strong silhouette. A handsome piece equally suited as a daybed or statement seating in a living room. Comparable French examples from this period are also described as lit de repos or Empire daybeds. From the South of France!
