The tall, finely detailed candlesticks feature elaborate acanthus leaf ornament, fluted and turned sections, foliate collars and baluster-form elements, rising from substantial gadrooned bases supported on scrolling tripod feet. Originally created as ecclesiastical altar pieces, the candlesticks retain a warm aged gilt finish that accentuates the intricate relief decoration. Now electrified to US standards, they make a striking pair of antique French altar stick lamps, church candlestick lamps or decorative table lamps with exceptional height and presence.
