Antique Faux Painted Hungarian/Romanian Pine Bench, circa 1875

The gorgeous symmetry and hand-painted faux finish on this antique Romanian Hungarian bench, circa 1875 remains as handsome today as when it was first created. The wear that exists from actual daily use is entirely random and adds a dimension to the visual effect of the bench impossible to achieve with new paint. The seat of the bench raises on its original iron hinges to reveal an enclosed storage space. This bench was always placed closest to the front door where wet outerwear could be easily shed and as such was used quite frequently. It may be placed in a protected outdoor area or anywhere inside a home to great effect.
