Pair of Early 19th Century French Carved Wood Gold Gilt Two-Light Wall Sconces

Decorate a living room, powder room or an entry way with this significant and elegant pair of early French wall lights. Crafted and hand-carved in France circa 1800s or earlier, each sconce features hand carved scroll motifs at the pediment, embellished with reeded and metal arms with spikes to either hold candles or could be wired for electricity.  The wall sconces are in very good condition with new wiring, and adorn a richly patinated gilt painted finish over oak. Bought in the South of France.
