19th Century Sheraton Step Back Burled Mahogany Seven-Drawer Chest of Drawers

Sheraton step-back chest of drawers with three top drawers over four large drawers, Maine origin, circa mid 1800s. With a step-back profile and overhanging top drawer, bearing elements of both the Sheraton and Empire styles, the commode features square side columns over turned feet. The design of the chest with its high feet give it a lofty appearance, and the ornate Sheraton knobs are of stamped brass and original. The drawers are hand-dovetailed, and the wide plank, three-board back on the primary section of the case is particularly nice.
